Exhibited at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery for New Art West Midlands 2018: 16th Feb - 6th May 2018.

Drone is a dystopian science fiction short crafted from archive material. A surveillance operative in a post apocalyptic society scrutinises the only existing video from before The Event in an attempt to discover the identity of those responsible. The piece references diverse and iconic touchstones including Chris Marker’s La Jetee and Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, Orwell’s 1984 and Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape.

The repetitive notes for the film’s soundtrack play with the definition of “drone”; a low-pitched hum or buzzing, a mindless worker or a highly invasive potentially dangerous surveillance weapon.
